Green I (8 & Under)
Swimmers should be able to swim 1 length of the pool (25 yds). Swimmers will learn the four competitive strokes, Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle.
Practices will focus on fun, and skill development. Swimmers will learn drills that will assist them the rest of their swimming careers. Safety around the pool and locker room will be stressed along with respect for teammates, coaches and the facility. Practices will be 45 minutes in length and Mach 3 recommends 2-3 per week.
Green II (Ages 8 – 10)
Swimmers will build on the drills and technique that they learned in Green I.
Racing starts and turns will be introduced in this level. Fun will still be the main focus but the concept of training will be a part of every practice. Stroke drills and technique will also be a big part of everyday workouts. Swimmers in this level will be encouraged to compete in meets that fit their ability. Practices are 1 hour in length and Mach 3 recommends 3-4 workouts per week.
Blue I (Ages 9 – 12)
Training becomes a bigger part of the practice. Stroke technique and fun is still included in practice. The competitive spirit of swimming will be introduced at practice. Swimmers will learn to challenge themselves and have the opportunity to succeed everyday. They will learn that hard work pays off and can be fun while doing it. Swim meet participation is expected. Practices are 1.5 hours in length and Mach 3 Recommends 4-5 per week.
Red
It’s called red for a reason, blood flow. This level is for the committed swimmer who has made the decision that they can and want to be a competitive swimmer. Stroke improvement will be stressed everyday through drills and observation. Workouts will challenge the whole team, which will lead to personal success everyday. Swimmers will start to specialize in different strokes and events but will still train all four. Goal setting and achieving said goals become a part of everyday life for the swimmer.
Meet participation and 5-6 practices per week are expected. Practices are 2-2.5 hours in length.
